Recommendations JPC- the Republic of Macedonia – EU- Continuation with the Reforms and Progress in the political Dialogue 

On the 7th Meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee - The Republic of Macedonia – EU, held on 18th and 19th February 2010, in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, participated the MPs from the Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the MEPs in the Delegation from the European Parliament in the Committee. Mr. Vasko Naumovski, Vice-Prime Minister on European Integration; Mr. Antonio Miloshoski- Minister on Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Government; Mr.Erwan Fouéré Special Representative of EU in Macedonia , on behalf of the Delegation of the European Union and Ms. Alexandra Cas Granje- Directorate B on Enlargement, on behalf of the European Commission, addressed before the Committee. 

Many issues related to Macedonia-EU relations and  the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement were reviewed, especially regarding the condition in the judiciary and the functioning of the public administration, the relations between the Republic of Macedonia, the conditions in the area of economy and the reforms made by the Government for taking over the obligations from the EU Membership, the policies in the environment and in the transport infrastructure, including the aspects  of the over border cooperation and management of the EU funds, especially the IPA were also reviewed during this meeting. 

The adopted Recommendations for the Institutions in the Republic of Macedonia and EU, welcome the fact that the political parties in the Republic of Macedonia, governing and oppositional, supported by the high support of the public, are united in the goal to approach Macedonia to its EU Membership and underline that the accession in EU is based on accomplishment of the Copenhagen Criteria and the fair conditioned principle. In this context, the issue on opening negotiations should be reviewed as soon as possible and to provide date on opening accession negotiations. Also the progress in the decentralization, the reforms in the public administration, judiciary, anti-corruption policy, the accomplishment of the economic criteria,, legislation  referring to living environment and establishment of appropriate structure for decentralized IPA funds management were noticed. Macedonian institutions are recommended to continue with the reforms and the progress in the political dialogue, to continue the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, especially in direction of full equality of all ethnic communities in the country, further strengthening the independence and impartiality of the judiciary, decrease of the unemployment, strengthening the administrative capacities in the transport and infrastructure and strict management with the finances of IPA.
