It gives me special pleasure that today, in the premises of the Assembly of Republic of Macedonia is taking place an event related to the initiative of the civil sector for the protection of Ohrid region as a single region in the Republic of Macedonia protected by UNESKO.

ADDRESS BY THE PRESIDENT XHAFERI AT THE ROUND TABLE ON:"THE PARLIAMENT AND THE CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS" 

It gives mi great pleasure to attend today this round table with topic: "The Parliament and the civil society organisations." 

As first among equals, i promised to engage for a higher transparency of the Assembly and presence of the citizens in the activities of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. Together with the deputies, we will strive for an inclusive, transparent and accountable legislature, because the parliamentary information belongs to all the citizens. The New Strategic Plan will also ensure practical implementation of this commitment of ours. We will work towards the direct informing of the citizens regarding the role of the legislative power in the system of state regulation, through support of the educative activities for the young population, but also for the social-economic vulnerable groups. The concept of open day in the Assembly every last Friday is only one part of this vision. We will be working on the program content of the Assembly channel, and also upgrade of the electronic platform in order for it to become proactive.

Statement of the president veljanoski on the occasion of scheduling the early parliamentary elections

Ladies and gentlemen,  
Allow me to inform you that in accordance with the Constitutional and legal provisions, as the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, I have ratified the Decision Scheduling the Early Parliamentary Elections, which shall be held on 11 December 2016.

Address of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski at the OSCE PA Autumn Session 2016

It is a great pleasure to welcome you today in Skopje, the Capital of the Republic of Macedonia. 25 years have passed since the adoption of the decision on establishment until today’s Autumn Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE. A period when the Assembly of OSCE, through its work and engagement proved to be one of the fundamental pillars and significant mechanism for the achievement of the principles OSCE is founded on. In these 25 years, the Parliamentary Assembly confirmed the importance of the parliamentary diplomacy in preservation of peace, stability and cooperation among the 57 Member States.

Since its establishment on 5 May 1949 fulfilling its statutory provisions, the Council acts towards establishment, practice, protection and development of fundamental rights and freedoms, strengthening democracy, creating joint legal standards.

Migration, from historic and civilization aspect is not a new occurrence, for the world nor for Europe, though the current migrant – refugee crisis is a phenomenon unwitnessed by the newer world history. These occurrences are global issue.

Comment of the President Veljanoski on the Contribution of the National parliaments in the Multilateral Cooperation Central and Eastern Europe

The fact that we are gathered here and discuss many topics confirms the role, importance and the responsibility of the national parliaments in the development of the bilateral relations, even further in the multilateral relations, on the level of regional cooperation, but also on the level of the European Union and wider. Today, all significant international organization and association structurally include parliamentary assemblies, as a significant segment of their work.

What kind of Europe we want and what is the future of EU and the integration processes of the aspiring states are questions which have been particularly popularized after the so called Brexit, in other words the referendum on which the citizens of Great Britain supported leaving EU.
