In the framework of the Macedonian Chairmanship-in-Office of the South East European Cooperation Process, on 12 February 2013 the SEECP Parliamentary Dimension Working Group held its VIII meeting.

The SEECP PD Working Group was established with the Final Declaration of the Eight Conference of the SEECP Speakers of Parliament, held in Ankara, Turkey, with the aim of preparing a report on the guidelines and modalities for further development of the SEECP Parliamentary dimension leading to setting up a Parliamentary Assembly. Representatives of the Parliaments of Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey and Macedonia took part in the meeting.

Representatives of the Regional Cooperation Council in Sarajevo, the Regional Secretariat for Parliamentary Cooperation in Sofia, and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation as the main supporter of the event also attended the meeting.

The Member of Parliament Ms. Ermira Mehmeti Devaja chaired the meeting. In the introduction she said that despite the consensus reached on various matters during their previous meetings, there are still open issues such as the model of the secretariat and the criteria regarding the size of the delegations.

This was the second meeting of the Working Group held in the Assembly. The participants reached an agreement on the forthcoming activities of the Working Group and of the current Chairmanship-in-Office and on the final documents of the Group that will be submitted at the Tenth Conference of Speakers of Parliament of the SEECP participating states that will be hosted by the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.
