EU ADVISED MACEDONIA TO CONTINUE WITH THE REFORMS

Yesterday at the 7th meeting of the Stabilization and Association Council between the Republic of Macedonia and the European Union in Brussels the key events related to the fulfillment of the political criteria were reviewed. The Republic of Macedonia was asked to continue with the reforms concerning the political dialogue improvement, the public administration professionalization, the independence of the judiciary, the fight against corruption, and the improvement of the area of human rights and the business environment

The European Parliament adopted the Report on the Republic of Macedonia

The MEPs, with majority votes adopted the Report on the Republic of Macedonia  submitted by the Slovenian MEP Mr. Zoran Thaler, Rapporteur for the Republic of Macedonia . 548 MEPs voted “for”, 45 “against” and 35 abstained from the voting.

Nikiforos Diamanduros- European Ombudsman until 2014

The European Parliament re-elected Mr. Nikiforos Diamanduros from Greece for European Ombudsman until 2014, who holds this position since 2003. Mr. Nikiforos Diamanduros was supported by 340 MEP on yesterday’s secret voting. Other two nominees for this position were Mr. Pierre-Yves Monette (BE) who was supported by 289 votes and Vittorio Bottoli (IT) with 19 votes.
