STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI, AFTER THE MEETING WITH THE UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY GENERAL - MR. BAN KI-MUN

With regard to the parliamentary cooperation on global level, we expressed mutual satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the Assembly and the United Nations, i.e. the Inter-Parliamentary Union. We also exchanged views on the development of the capacities of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia as an institution that has to continually invest in its capacity, in order to be able to meet the challenges.

PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI WELCOMED THE NEWLY-APPOINTED HEAD OF THE LIAISON OFFICE OF THE HELLENIC REPUBLIC TO THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA - MR. THEOCHARIS LALAKOS

At the beginning of the meeting the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia expressed satisfaction from the meeting and wished Mr. Lalakos successful work during his mandate as Head of Mission. Mr. Trajko Veljanoski regretted the lack of cooperation between the two countries on parliamentary level and expressed hope that direct parliamentary cooperation will be established soon.

RESULTS OF THE REGULAR TELEPHONE INQUIRY ON THE PERCEPTION OF THE CITIZENS ON THE WORK OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA (EXECUTED ON 17 AND 18 JANUARY 2013)

The regular telephone inquiry on the perception of the public for the work of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, that this year was executed on 17 and 18 January 2013. the telephone inquiry that has been executed for the 6th time in the framework of the Memorandum on Cooperation with the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy on Strengthening the Capacities of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. The inquiry was executed by the Democracy Institute “Societas Civilis” Skopje. The inquiry included 1.123 respondents from the whole territory of the Republic of Macedonia, inquired via telephone on 17 and 18 January 2013. The inquiry is executed through a questionnaire made out of the standard 16 questions plus the demographic questions.

THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI WELCOMED THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA, MR. IVICA DACIC

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined the highly developed relations between the two states and nations, which a re characterised with good neighbourly relations, security and stability, on bilateral, regional and multilateral level, high degree of trust, without open or controversial issues. The meeting emphasised the common future in the framework of the process of integration in the European Union, and the preparedness of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia was underlined in the context of sharing the so far experiences.

OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE TO THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF TURKEY

In the framework of the bilateral cooperation between the Parliaments of the Republic of Macedonia and Turkey and on initiative of the Co-Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee Republic of Macedonia-European Union, a Delegation of the Assembly Committee visited officially the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. The Delegation, composed of Mr. Kenan Hasipi - Co-Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, Ms. Silvana Boneva and Mr. Aleksandar Spasenovski - members of the Committee, and Ms. Deshira Imeri - deputy member of the Committee, had several meetings with their colleagues from the host country.

Meeting of the President veljanoski with the Delegation of Mps from the group for bilateral cooperation with the Republic of Macedonia from the House of Representatives from Indonesia

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski welcomed the so far development of the friendly relations between the two states, accelerated dynamics of the friendly relations between the two states, and expressed his conviction that in the future these relations will be further developed and will be more dynamic in many areas. The President Veljanoski also underlined that the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Macedonia impose efforts to establish and develop the political dialogue and increase the number of contacts and meetings.

The coordinators of the Parliamentary Groups of VMRO-DPMNE and DUI, Ms. Silvana Boneva and Mr. Talat Xhaferi, had separate meetings with Mr. Luke Simpkins - member of the Australian Federal Parliament visiting Macedonia. The MP from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Milorad Dodevski and the Honorary Consul of Australia to the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Zoran Kostovski attended the meetings.

Allow me to inform you that in accordance with the legal obligation, as a President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and in accordance with the timelines established with the Election Code, I have ratified the Decree Scheduling the Elections of Council Members in the Municipalities and the Council of the City of Skopje and for Mayor of Municipalities and the mayor of the City of Skopje.
